Joanna Blachowska

My name is Joanna and I’m from Poland. I came to Australia to study Peace and Conflict Studies at The University of Sydney.

A way to work towards global peace is by ensuring sustainable development which is one of the goals of aid development agencies such as UNICEF or ChildFund. By focusing on children and giving them a chance for brighter future these organisations empower the whole communities and help them to transform themselves.

As fundraisers me and my colleagues contribute to the work of organisations that every day improve thousands of people’s lifes. I don’t forget this bigger picture when I raise money working in the streets and in the shopping centres around Sydney and beyond.

What I like in fundraising most is meeting and talking to so many different and often amazing people that come from various cultural and social backgrounds. In future I would like to work in aid development sector, directly in the field. I believe that many of the skills I’ve gained and practiced as a fundraiser will help me to achieve my goal.
